Young Voter

From #OccupyWallStreet to #OccupyElectionDay

When thousands of people first showed up in New York City to #OccupyWallStreet, the media ignored them. When the protests became a national phenomenon, the press scrambled to report on it, but the cynicism remains: “this movement may grow, but they won’t VOTE!”

When all is said and done, politicians respond to the people who give them their jobs: voters. If we want to use the momentum to truly reshape our national policy, we need to recruit our friends, allies, and family members to register to vote. We’ve set up an action page where you can register if you need to, or spread the message to your networks:

#OccupyElectionDay by registering and spreading the word now.

They wouldn’t try to steal your vote if it didn’t matter…

Thanks for Pledging to Vote in Ohio!

By honoring your pledge, you will be exercising your right to contribute to the decision-making process and influence the outcome. We would like to be a resource so that you can be an informed voter.

The Voter Registration Deadline is October 11th. If you are not registered to vote at your current address, we are here to help - just respond to this e-mail and we’ll let you know where you can get registered.

We want to go even deeper than just registering to vote. We will use our presence at the polls to create leverage that we can use to access economic resources.People power = economic resources.By reaching people, we can build a power base among young people, and have the voice to influence decisions that may otherwise be made for us. But it all starts with you!

Come join me as we reach out and continue to grow our mission. We are connecting young people who are not satisfied with the direction of government, and are ready to own our obligation to shape our own future.

Ready to get involved? Just e-mail me to volunteer and get young people registered before the deadline.

Our neighborhoods will be ignored if we don’t hold our leaders accountable. But first, we have to hold each other accountable. Before we can do that, we must hold ourselves accountable to show up and make our voice heard.

Winning the War on Voting by Getting People IDs

The #1 item on the League’s agenda is fighting back in the War on Voting by helping 30,000 low-income youth get new IDs this year.

Text “ID” to 69866 to get the ID requirements in your state.

It’s our job to make sure that we get young people IDs and keep them informed. That’s why we’re partnering with Rock the Vote to spread awareness about the new laws. Not only will we be launching a massive media campaign- we’re also going to provide buses to get young people to the DMV to get new IDs throughout the next six months.
