- President Obama appointed the first female director of the Secret Service this week. Julia Pierson was sworn in, becoming the first female director in the 148-year history of the Secret Service. Since, she has been the chief of staff to the director of the Secret Service. She previously served as a special agent in the Miami field office and then a special agent in charge of protective operations. (CNN)
