Las Vegas, NV – In 2010, LYVEF began investing resources into local organizers who focus on economic and social justice issues, as well as nonpartisan voter registration, GOTV, election protection and election administration. We also focused a portion of our efforts on education around the Census. To that end community organizer Krysten Hughes was hired on in February as our Nevada State Based Apprentice to ramp-up our civic engagement and census activities

DSC_0787Krysten Hughes is the director and founder of The Lead Voice, a socially responsible diversity speaker’s bureau and consulting firm. She is also a weekend news reporter for HipHopDX and a music blogger for BET Centric. Her work has appeared in JENESIS Magazine, Industry Ears and Las Vegas Review-Journal, just to name a few. She is a Las Vegas apprentice for the League of Young Voters Education Fund, working in the state of Nevada to organize young people around political issues. In her free time she likes to hike, ski, listen to music, play with her two puppies, and spend time with family. Hailing from Colorado, Krysten currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada where she attends college.
